Forums - Gaming - five Game franchises that need to die

Pokemon - seriously, after the second generation (Crystal and Neo or something in trading cards), they look terrible. I remember once I went through the new ones and I laughed on every single one, thats how lame they look.

Thats about it.
Oh yea, why is there so much Sonic hate? I don't love him, but hes not that bad. Besides those few... well some bad games.

Around the Network

Swap Spyro for Sonic and its a good list, I'm fed up of waiting for a decent Spyro or Crash game these days ..... the magic is ... lost.

People list out some great games here (Mario, FF, Halo, etc). Just because you don't like the game shouldn't mean the franchise should go - I'm not into Gran Turismo or God of War, I'm not about to list it as a franchise that needs to die.

I think we can at least all agree on something like Need for Speed. Guitar Hero / RB and Call of Duty are being milked pretty badly atm - I don't think they need to die, but they need to tone down on the yearly release BS.

Dear god dont tell me you truly think Halo is some special super console FPS because I hate to tell but Haze is at equal quality of the Halo franchise thats right Halo is a standard run of the mill FPS.

Come on now, ssj. I'm not a huge Halo fan but the series is rock-solid. Not my cup of tea (the MP, that is), but that series' gameplay is nearly bulletproof because it's so refined. The story is kinda fun, the voice acting is acceptable, etc.

Haze was a mishmash of good ideas gone horribly wrong. Any comparison to Halo needs to be done tongue-in-cheek. The voice acting was some of the worst I've ever seen, the one trick pony Nectar was discarded almost immediately in the game, and the AI was dumber than my cat, who I'm convinced is mentally retarded. There isn't a single part of that game that can compare with the Halo series.

There are better FPS series out there (Gears, IMO, for one) but Halo is still the cream of the crop when it comes to console shooters, take for that what you will. The PC is obviously numero uno in this genre, but that's another discussion.

And if Halo was such a run of the mill FPS, half the shooters released today wouldn't be trying so bloody hard to copy it. It's a landmark game, whether you like it or not.
