Forums - Gaming - What DON'T you like about the console you own?

PS3 - Lack of video and audio formats support. A 50€ DVD player plays more formats.
3 different PSN with different content.

PSP - Poor packaging.

- Trophies awarded for just progressing through the game, they should add replay value, not be so that by reaching the end of the game once you have 'earned' nearly all of them without choice.

I don't really know what game you're referring to (and I'm not saying you're lying), but isn't it the devs that decide the trophies?  In which case, blaming that on the console seems silly.

Yes it is the devs fault, but I was just listing the negatives of the console in general, be it Sony themselves or anyone who makes things for it.   I suppose I could stretch it and blame it all on Sony for not setting up better trophy rules, but whatever.

I do agree that Sony should have some type of input as to what denotes receiving a trophy...but I haven't really tried to get 100% of any of my games yet, and as such am not even close to it (I think 43% on LBP is the closest, followed by 34% on Uncharted), so this doesn't really affect me yet.

due the price my friends can't buy it

I only have a 360 so...

  • RROD (Twice)
  • Rubbish D-Pad (One reason I have not bought any beat em ups)
  • LOUD! (I have the early model...)
  • Paying for XBL
  • IMO a lot of XBL downloads are too expensive.
  • Doesn't support enough formats.

I've also had two play and go kits plus one rechargable battery die on me.

N64 - Memory expansion... what?

Genesis - Came with the 3 button controller instead of the awesome 6 button one.

SNES - Has stickers on it.

NES - The AC adapter is way too big.

Pac-man arcade game - Screw you ghosts.

Just to use Prince of Persia as an exmaple, by completing the game once trophies that are impossible to not get:

Bronze: 17

Silver: 2

Gold: 2

Trophies I be really surprised if you didn't earn just by playing through once:

Bronze: 12

Silver: 0

Gold: 0

All that leaves is:

Bronze: 14

Silver: 3

Gold: 1

Personally on my first play through by the end of it all I missed were 5 trophies in total, could have earned them all in a single play through except that would have required I looked at the trophy list before playing.

Yeah, come to think of it I played through the first 2 levels of Prince of Persia at a friends house and got a couple trophies by doing it (took like 30-45 mins maybe..can't remember).

Are the 360's achievements the same?  I'd assume so..just curious.

Wii: Most of the things the Wii lacks, my PC makes up for. However, these are the things that annoy me:

Wiimote motions that are buggy or Wiimote motions that are added to the game as a gimick instead of being used to improve controls. The gimmicky uses can be excused if they are not glitchy. Call of Duty 3 is the worst offender of doing both I have ever seen.

Lack of syncronization between Wii clock and Gamecube games. It really only is a problem in Animal Crossing, but the game is always an hour off of the Wii clock.

Including the first problem, most of the annoyances when I use the Wii are the developers fault.

Wii:
- Friend codes
- Getting PS2 quality multiplatform games
- Lack of some good "testosterone" game
- Price of Guitar Hero WT: 190 for the band kit + 4 wiimotes (had to buy 2)
- Too small storage space (1 GB would had been enough for me)

PS3: Sixaxis... Its just dumb, that failed copy of wii mote that I've never used and they keep pushing on some games... what's the point? I prefer vibration.

Installs: On DMC4 wait 20 minutes the first time you put the game on the ps3 is a pain. You want to play, you've been waiting the game for so long and when you think you will finally enjoy... 20 minutes... what a lethal weapon!

Also on MGS4, when my brother started a game... My brother plays, install chapter 1... I play, intall chapter 3...  I save, my brother wants to play and... REINSTALL CHAPTER 1 AGAIN!!!

Online: On some games its great, it works perfectly and its simply enjoyable (resistance, motorstorm, MGS4). On others its just a pain, horrible LAG. For example, Soul Calibur IV... Its hard to find fights without LAG, and if you find one, the character feels heavy... Or Unreal Tournament III. I bought this one for the online of course... never played without lag... NEVER.

How is posible to play online with 40 players on the same game without LAG (resistenace, did it countless times) and at the same time have incredible LAG on another shooter with 16 players (at max) on the same game. Or worst, having a painfull lag on Soulcalibur... 2 players, one little scenario and LAG! And then you play resistance, with a big scenario and 40 players at the same time... without LAG!! I just can't understand!!

No background downloading while playing games even offline
Controller is not as stiff or strong as 360's
Poor game ports
Games being delayed or canceled
System scratches easily"

Wait.. what??  I always do background downloading, except for the system updates...

... I think the controllers is great, liked it on PS1 and PS2... if only mine had vibration instead of the sixaxis thing...

Poor game ports? Yes, I forgot that. You're right, they are disgusting.

Games being delayed or cancelled... Thats not something only ps3 has... even PC games get delayed this days...

System scrarches? yours maybe...

I own a 360 and I hate RROD. Otherwise, good games :)
