i think this game is selling quite well. not blockbuster well, but probably good enough to warrant sequels.
Any figures?

My store has two copies left out of a shipment of 12. Unless our store is a complete aberration (it usually isn't), then that puts it somewhere in the 50-100k range for the first week.

This game is not for me, so I won't go into my opinions on it.  But if it manages to do more than 80k in the first week I would call that a HUGE success for the game and the genre honestly.

PS - Not doubting your number Bodhesatva, just surprised me. I am looking forward to the numbers today.

Sounds like a lot of you here wish your girlfriend was hot like me.

But seriously, the main musik biz is way down in the crapper and has been there for a long time, I´m no feminist but even as a guy who likes to see naked women the industry is just going to far, I´m not a father yet  but I don´t feel like telling my 12 year old brother what a pimp or a how is. Or that its ok to treat other people like crap as long as you have money.

The game looks interesting enough to rent it, I really don´t trust ratings on these kind of games because there are to many factors that one person may like and another may hate (musik, motion controll sceme, EA....)

A Rant about the whole genre.

If they want to have a game that appeals to a larger audience they should do songs that are for all generations, eg. hits from the 50's Rock and roll and even Jazz throught the 60's with things like Elvis and The Beatles, right up to the present day, and keep it family friendly.

Don't make the Game so child-like that adults feel silly, but not so "Hard rock" that it puts them off, also the game should change to suit the era of the song.
Every generation loves to sing I don't see why the genre so far starts from the 1980s.

I haven't bought a game in this genre so far as most of the music doesn't really suit my taste, but it is something I would like to do with my family as the idea of games like singstar/RockBand/guitar hero seems very fun :)

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

music today is to sexxxx driven, and it aint just for girls, lots of boys lissen 2 a lot of tunes with expliciit meaning. It's all immature... But i take your points abt don't cha and the pussy cat dolls... they are such bad role models. I'm 15 myslef and i even think 'wtf is with this industry'
