Forums - Microsoft - WRPGs are doing extremely well on the Xbox 360! They average 2.25M Sales.

1 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 2K Games 13,271 7.70 2.62m 29th Nov 08
2 Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Activision 9,359 6.56 2.55m 26th Oct 08
3 Mass Effect Microsoft 40,840 7.54 2.24m 16th Feb 08
4 Fable II Microsoft 9,400 7.00 2.18m 23rd Dec 08
5 Fallout 3 Bethesda Softworks 2,636 7.43 1.61m 03rd Nov 08

I must give my congrats to gamers for their support of my favourite genre, and thanks to Microsoft for their support also. Looking at these sales figures its a little disapointing that more WRPG games haven't been released on the system yet. I hope developers and publishers will see this and think to produce a few more quality RPG franchises for the system.

So we have The Witcher and Mass Effect 2 due for the system in 2009, and maybe an expansion for Fable 2. Are there any other WRPGs that have been announced to be in the pipeline for a 2009 release?

Tease.

Nice. but no one seems to like JRPG's anymore compared to this. :/

Unfortunately, I think we have to include Two Worlds, which will drag down the average.

Mass Effect 2 is my most anticipated game.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Maybe if Sony games would sell or if Microsoft would release decent, hyped RPG's, then they would. Honestly, way too many people are holding out for Final Fantasy XIII to save JRPG's, when they should really be buying quality JRPG's like Tales of Versperia or Valkyria Chronicles...But that's just me.

Thats why if regular XIII sucks and flops ima laugh and cry at the same time, to much dependence is on Regular (AKA Main) XIII's shoulders. :/

Of course WRPGs look like they are generally doing extremely well when you only take the top of the top and average them. If you took the time to average all of all the WRPGs on the console, your result would be quite different.

WRPG's are releasing but JRPG is indeed in a very depressing situation. From the start of this gen I said FFXIII and Versus would be the ones to set the standard and sadly that looks to me the case. :(

Way too much dependence on one Franchise, DQ is thankfully here and Monster Hunter is becoming absolutely enormous.

I'm sure you're not the only one. Honestly, there are a ton of people who are just waiting for the game to come out. Some might pick up WKC or SO4, but FFXIII is the main event for this generation when it comes to HD RPG's.

Amen, Axum.

I own 3 of those games, i sold oblivion otherwise i would have 4. This generation i'm beginning to enjoy WRPGS more than JRPGS.

I would be interested to see if a Japanese developer would be interested in trying their hands at doing a WRPG style game. I would be interested to see what they could accomplish and what the final result would be from a merging of the two genres.

You missed out on the two flops, not suprising considering how well known they were (ie not at all).

Dark Messiah of Migt and Magic Element and Two World brings the average down unfortunately. Still glad that the GOOD games are selling which is all that matters.
