Forums - Microsoft - Can these 4 exclusives hold the fort against the assault of KZ2 in Q1?

lets hope killzone 2 is a better game then the first 1.

Do people really think KZ2 will be a big system seller for a $400 € console? Were you around when GTAIV and MGS4 barely increase hardware sales?

What? Where did you get "only KZ2 releases for PS3 in Q1" from?

inFamous
WKC
Yakuza 3 (Japan)
The Agency

And I'm sure there are more. However, without a price cut, the X360 will still win due to its price.

QFT

@Rayray

you are wrong in your original post and you should fix it.

PS3 exclusives for Q1:

inFamous

WKC

Yakuza 3 (Japan)

The Agency

demon soul

Final Fanatasy :children advent bundle with the FFXIII demo on it(Japan)

ON PSN:

flower

fat princess

kungfu ragdoll

and many more

where did you get only killzone from?is it becasue you like that game so much that you can't stop thinking about it? ;)

Well, I am basing my release dates on comfirmed dates for Q1 release in N/A and Europe, not games that only has a release date in Japan only. Using the IGN list, I don't see any of the PS3 games listed anywhere in the UK or American release calendar with comfirmed dates . And with Japan these days, if it is not an RPG, or on a DS or PSP, it will be hard sell. Lost Ocean and Ninja Blade will more than hold there own against Yakuza 3 and Demon Soul in Japan.

For those that think GTA4 DLC won't mean anything is in for a surprise. It has a new story, characters, vehicles, soundtracks. It is like a whole new game and will be only $20.00. It will sell a ton based on name alone.

IGN does not always equal officially confirmed, you will note that like Demon Soul, Ninja Blade does NOT have a European or NA release date, only Japan. It is simply expected that the NA/EU release date will be fairly soon after in both cases (For demon soul, the Asian version currently being demo-ed is completely English, while NInja has an expected release date on the 3rd of Feb (not confirmed).

We know Halo War and Star Ocean both have official release dates, GTA DLC won't effect sales of the system, but I believe it should be well recieved by existing 360 user.

So if you boil down to it, then the release list are as below:

PS3
Killzone

360
Halo War
Star Ocean 4

Demon Soul, Ninja Blade and Infamous(Spring 09) can be added if you want to add speculated and rough dates. Also ToV will most likely be release on 360 in Q1 for europe (it had better!) so add that to your lineup.

Well MGS4 did actually increase sales, remember it was bundled and demand for the bundle remained high. If I'm not mistaken PS3 outsold 360 by some 200,000 consoles that month, but I'm not positive.

Yes but the boost disappeared rather quickly... Looking at vgchartz, hardware sales increased by more than 100% in launch week, but there was a big drop immediately in the next week.

And that was MGS4 which was a much more important game than KZ2...

I'll guess we'll see what happens, although I agree that while PS3 is still $400, don't expect a major hardware from Killzone 2, even though I think the title itself will do 500,000-600,000 in sales Week 1.

I definitely agree this game will sell well, I just don't think there should be big hope (or worry depending on the perspective) that the game will push a lot of hardware. A big hardware boost would be much more of a surprise than the opposite.
