next gen console is going to be interesting, and it all depends on how this one turns out.

does sony and ms tone down the extras for an affordable console
does nintendo upgrade the extras at an affordable price.

as for controllers...that one is all dependant on,.....the wii. if the wii goes out and sells over 100 million consoles then all nextgen consoles will have/will be capable of motion controls similar to the wii.

the one thing we will NOT see is UHD- not gonna happen for at least another 30 years. we WILL see all 3 consoles capable of 720p/1080p resolution although most HD tv's sold to consumers will be 720p (almost all cable companies currently transmit their HD signal in 720p)

i do not see a new console coming out until 2012ish timeframe and the first one out will be the new version of the wii. since that one imo is the simplest to design the upgrades for:

the wii is the easiest upgrade to figure out:
upgrade cpu to one the same price as they pay for their current one.
add Flash hard drive(if affordable in 2012 otherwise sata notebook one.
add gpu capable of 1080p

release console for 299 or less-for a profit.

as for UHD


we just got ANALOG SD signal switched over to digital SD.

most tv shows are FINALLY switching over to HD....you think they'd want to have to switch to uhd after just switching to hd?

not gonna happen this (people )generation-MAYBE next generation there is no NEED for UHD-ie 20-30years from now.

He's got it right. As long as there are three competing hardware firms, that one that falls behind the others will force them to start next gen as early as possible, because continuing current gen means more losses to them.

When I have joined this one? Still hasn't a single one of the next gen consols.

I´ll be quitting gaming after this generation,but I´ll still be following this industry news for sure.

Might sound like a cliche, but I have no idea where I will be standing in say about 5 or 6 years. I hope I still have fun in gaming as I have now and I'll be still buying games. But before you know it I can be fed up with it in a few years, you never know. It depends on how I will develop as an individual as well of how the game industry will develop in the upcoming years.

That´s what´s happening to me atm,I still like gaming,but the enjoyment I get with playing is going on a downward spiral,and sadly,it´s going fast.

Microsoft will likely jump the gun early again... but I but there new console will offer only better graphics and better online, I doubt they will add motiion control. My guess is 2010-2011 it will come out.

Nintendo is likely to come in 2011-2012 and will probably have 1:1 motion control, HD grpahics, and better online.

If sony wiats until 2020 to replace the ps3 they will get blown out of the water. The way things are headed though, I doubt they will. I bet sony will offer up something very similar to what nintendo will offer, but slightly better graphics, better 3rd party support, and with a slightly higher price tag.

i wasn't really read for this gen or last gen, there's still so many games I haven't played from SNES and PS eras. Particularly Saturn and Genesis have so many games I never got to play because I couldn't afford to have multiple systems back then.
