Forums - Sales Discussion - Gamestop 360/PS3 availability comparison

Two days ago I made a post about the core possibly being dropped by gamestop based on what they said was available from their website when you did a search based on your zip code.  Well I took a quick peek today again to see if there was any difference and found that indeed the information had changed quite a bit.  I know someone who said they worked for gamestop said that site doesn't reflect what the store actually has but the fact that it is being updated should give some indication that it is being used by gamestop.

Basically what I noticed most was that the premium 360 is now widely available with almost all the stores around my area having 4+ with none requesting more which probably meas they have quite a bit.  That is a big change from 2 days ago when almost all had 0 to 1-3 with all of them requesting more.  It could be that they just happen to all get new shipment this week as they might get everyweek or it could be a big build up for Madden and the flurry of 360 games that will be coming out in the coming weeks.  Again I know this is not scientific as I just happen to stumble on this and figure it might be useful.  If you want to check for yourself below is the link and just put in your zip code and 200 mile radious to see what yout get.

I did skip looking at the core because quite frankly I still think is on the way out and not worth mentioning. Also took a quick peek at the ps3 80 gig version again the data seems consistent and worth mentioning.  Almost all the stores have 1-3 available with obviously not requesting more which to me says they don't expect to sell them anytime soon.  The ps3 60 gig is widely available when some expecting more so it seems SONY will have a lenghly clearance sale.  On a side note there was some SONY UK exec that said that after the price cut it would be sold one withing the month. I am stating the obvious but the ps3 might need another price drop to get them moving.  Below are the ps3's links just in case anyone was curious.

I am sure  some people that work in gamestop will give more insights as they did in my previous post.

Around the Network

It seems that I have stumbled upon your thread again and like last time i'll give you my insight...
One thing to keep in mind about how our company works is that normally all stores in one district will receive the same shipment at the same time, unless of course the store has an adequate amount. This is why one day none of the stores seem to have any on the way and then the next day half of them do. I've been working there since late january and there hasnt been a single day that we've been out of stock of either the premium 360 or ps3... For the first 2 months or so that i've worked there i think we sold 2 or 3 ps3.... Then we had a mini surge (before the price drop) , and then closer to 1 or so every other week. The 360 moves faster. However we've had far more come back either because it was defective or just a trade than any other system. So i'd say that the net 360s going out is about equal to that of the ps3. ps3's we almost never get back.
