This topic will always keep popping up somehow. Exclusives do define a console. I mean if there weren't exclusives, why bother having different consoles?
Exclusives are important. They show off a system's power and capability as well as selling consoles to consumers. When a exclusive game goes multiplatform, it has to use a common denominator between systems. This hurts the potential of the game and it does reduce the quality of a game as well (if it went from exclusive status to multiplatform). If it was multi to begin with, nothing to complain about there. As long as it is a good game, I'm all for it
.
I know people go crazy over exclusives and they shouldn't, but they shouldn't be all for letting go of exclusives for more people to "experience" them. Like CaptainHarlock said, if you want to experience an exclusive, just buy the console it's on; don't ask for it on another console. If they won't buy the console for it, they don't want it enough (for example, if Metal Gear Solid 4 went multiplatform, the quality would be dumbed down for it to be playable on both systems and it has to give a equal playing experience too. As a fan of the series, that hurts me. I want the best experience playing a game in my favorite franchise. So just buy a PS3 to play it in it's full).
Each system is going to have it's share of exclusives and that's that. I mean if anyone wants to play them, play it on the console it was meant to be on
(talking about 3rd party exclusives by the way).
As for the buying multiplatform games, I do. I mean who doesn't. If I like a game so much, I'll buy it. Simple as that. Sure people want more for their money with exclusive games, but there are multiplatform games that are great to play too. Like I said before, if it's a good game and I like what kind of game it is, I'll be all over it.
What do you guys think about exclusives...does it matter to you?
