So recently I made an article about the 10 biggest surprises of 2008 and I thought I should share it with you guys. Some of those weren't very surprising occurences. Nice effort though.

10. HD-DVD's death not a surprise to me. Maybe came a few months early, but the writing was on the wall last year.

8. Also shouldn't be a surprise. MGS4 and LBP have been hyped since 2007. The MGS series has always been good, and the word on LBP from the start was that it was amazing.

6. I call BS because its completely subjective. Your argument is essentially "I disagree with the reviewers and gamers, so the system is corrupt." This is a personal disappointment at best, and doesn't belong on a list like this.

5.-1. Isn't it a bit ballsy to start a top 10 list when you've only counted to 5? How do you even come up with a ranking order in that case?

Truth be told the only thing that shocked me this year was that a Final Fantasy VII announcement for the PS3 wasnt done yet. :/

PSP had its own but we all saw Crisis Core Coming a mile away right?

Not really. You had a premonition that the prequel to FF VII would be made and would appear on the PSP before Square told you? That is God at work my friend. Let us know what he allows you to envision next.

Ya know, in the beginning LBP was just a PSN game. I really don't believe that people were expecting at the end of 2007 it would be a GOTY competitor ^^

About number 6, you can say what you want. But GTA second best game ever? Yes, it's an opinion, but a lot of people just don't understand why reviewers thought it was the second coming.

Yes the game is good but no it's no where as awesome as reviewers wanted us to believe ^^

lol, what? no... we already knew it was coming because it came out for japan ealier, so thats how we knew silly. :P

Indeed CC was already released august or september 2007. Though, I wouldn't call the CC FFVII game a big surprise after all those spinn-offs

The second best game ever bullshit is about how Metacritic scores their games and has little consistency from one gen to the next. It still boils down to the fact that YOU were disappointed, but lots of gamers, and reviewers, were not. And the reason many people didn't think it was the second coming is because it wasn't, no one claimed it was, and those that bought the hype are those that don't understand a damn thing about statistical analysis. Saying GTA4 disappoints today is like saying Ocarina of Time disappointed in 98. Sure, some people will never be pleased, and some people will go too far in their praise, but you are using minority opinions to sell a weak argument.
