Oh well it does make that sound every 6-7 secounds, you can get on Home right now, and Im sure you will hear it commonly.

I'm not saying that's not true. I'm just doubting that it refers to a purchase for a group of 32 people. Perhaps it's for the whole Home, or something in between...

I read that each instance holds at the most 32 people, though I can't verify that.

If it's for the whole home it would be just 17k, and that doesn't sound right.....peharps the mall holds more than 32 people? Also people drop in and out of an instance fairly often.

As was said in this other thread, one $1 purchase every 5 seconds is around $7 million a year which sounds reasonable.

I think that's low.

Why? Not all PS3 users (less than 20 million) use Home, and not all will spend money on Home. How many people do you think are using Home and how much money do you think each would spend on it per year?

Fuck if I know, but 7 million a year in revenue is low, very very low.

These low expenses ($2 dollars and stuff) add up, people just because they say ohh it's just .50 cents or it's just 2 bucks, but at the end of the day it really adds up, you'd be surprised how much people could spend with this line of thought. That's how most people get in debt.

@FilaBrasileiro: Well that's not really an argument. I think Sony would be happy to get $7 million a year on the micro-transactions and I don't see it being much higher than that. Perhaps a few times higher, but certainly not 10 times higher. This based on PS3's userbase (even accounting for growth) and the fact that not everyone will be spending money there.

Of course this is just an estimate and based on hunches, but your points are even more hollow.

No...my points are just as hollow as yours, i.e. no one outside of insider really knows, you just choose to believe whatever you choose to believe and you try to pass it up as fact. Sony would definitely NOT be happy with revenue of $7 million a year, that means they might just be breaking even or making a small profit at best.

I said from the beginning that my numbers were hypothetical based on anectodal evidence. You saw another anectodal evidence and believed that was fact because it suits what you believe better.

$7 million a year is low because that would mean the video store is doing < $7 million a year.....considering that leak about Sony making more than $100 million revenue on PSN, well let's just say I find that unlikely. Of course your anti-sony bias keeps blinding you.

@FilaBrasileiro: I asked you a simple question about your estimates, no need to start screaming bias for every little thing. The discussion was going on quite well before you started crying about my bias.

Over and out...

Who's crying? I already told you where I got my numbers from, and I already told you they were anectodal....no need to get defensive, everybody knows how biased you are, it's really no big deal.

No you didn't. Where is the source for "each instance holds up 32 people I think" and "10 instances running simultaneously"?

everybody knows how biased you are

Apparently I'm biased for not believing each person logged onto a Home server makes a purchase every 5 minutes (which is what your numbers imply). Go figure... Gosh, even leo-j agreed with me and then a Sony fan calls me on my bias, LOL.

I'm bored so I'm gonna play with numbers a bit.

So if what you say is true, but let's say 10 seconds for the sake of argument and let's say everybody is buying the cheapest available product there, which is .49 cents, there are plenty of different "instances" for Home so there are not thousands of people cluttering up one place, so let's be conservative and say there are a total, at the most, 10 instances running simultaneously (each instance holds up 32 people I think). So in 4 days that would equal

.49 (price of product)*6 (products purchased a minute) * 60 (products purchased an hour) * 24 (product purchased a day) * 10 (all instances) = 42336

In those 4 days that would equal $169,344 in revenue

What do you think? Sounds right? Too high? Too low?

No you're biased, no matter what you say, denial is the 1st step.

I never cared if you believed my numbers or not, I don't believe my own numbers, I only believe official numbers, this is just for fun and games but you got too serious and tried to pass your numbers as facts, which are just as erroneous. You do know what "I think" and "I can't verify that" means right?

As far as the instance goes, I've read up on that too and cannot verify that but do you really think there are thousands of people going to Home on the same instance? Ok...

@FilaBrasileiro: Obviously we're all making estimates. The problem with your estimates is that frankly they don't make any sense.

For starters, you're assuming there are only 320 people logged into Home at any given time (10 instances times 32 people per instance). Unless I'm misunderstanding something, that really makes no sense. That's less people than VGChartz visitors.
