Japan alone-it could go either way

Worldwide-I'd be suprised if it didn't.  Not only is SO4 a high profile game but when it comes to JRPGs, not company has a better track record in terms of marketing than Square-Enix who are publishing the game.

Easily. Star Ocean IV is coming out at a good time and it will sell good pending it is a decent game.

Hm. Last games - IU (100+), ToV (160+) TLR (140k) and its still rising.

Well. 200k, at least for Star Ocean. Big chance.. But not right sure.

i dont think so, BD is huge and still is Mistwalkers big hit in Japan, the only JRPG that has a chance might be BD 2

I'm pretty sure people sometimes buy more than one game at once. BTW, releasing SO4 close to RE5 would only damage its sales if it was a survival horror game but its an RPG. BTW, Resident Evil 5 actually gets released 10 days after, not 3.

I can think of several reasons why I can agree with you.  The setting, the story, the gameplay, the atmosphere, etc. are just more interesting in SO4 than in BD

 September 17: Eternal Sonata came out, overshadowed MASSIVELY by Halo 3 on the 25th. Don't doubt the power of massive release titles, different genre or not. Sometimes can be a keyword on multiple purchases.

And SO4  comes out on March 10th, Resi 5 comes out march 13th according to IGN.
