Forums - Sony - Nothing escapes PS3s, not even a black hole

Ahahahahaha, this is great! Not only is PS3 not selling well, but the PS3 numbers are misleading because research teams are buying them in excesive amounts for whatever stupid theory they're trying to prove! Official, 360 > PS3

Actually it shows that the people with degrees understand the PS3 owns the 360 in terms of power. The games already show this in regards to first party titles and expand upon this next year. Once the price is lower the sales will show this as well.

What you fail to see is the fact that the 360 is barley outselling the PS3 right now at half the price. It was not outselling the PS3 until they dropped the price. So doom and gloom all you like, but dont forget that the 360 numbers are inflated as well due to dead consoles. The PS3 at least has them working and is selling pretty good considering its large price point and the current economy.

Let's not turn this into a flame war please :P The Cell is an amazing chip for this type of work, we all understand that here at VGC ^_^

I'm thinking Sony is going to continue it's use and R&D on types of cell chips, it seems very obvious that they're very easy to generate power with :P, and could you imagine how cheap it would be once these get

@CGI, Actually, I hope Sony uses this tech in like... everything!! From here on out, I would like for them to utilize the cell chip to help form they're Sony experience, the chip itself would be unique, it would be easy to develop for if the PS4 and the PSP2 used it, it's great for movies from what I've heard, and it does amazing things for just random things. It seems like the perfect chip for Sony as a company xD Imagine a toolset that would allow absolute control of the resources on the chip, and have that chip be in almost every Sony product :P

I just think it would work really well to simplify Sony's business plan and make it more of a Sony product as a whole, instead of multiple products by Sony :P They started to go ahead with it quite some time ago with the implementation of the XMB. It was in the PSP, now the PS3, and I've seen it in they're camera's and TV's as well ^_^ If they could unify the Sony network name, the operating system, the hardware behind it, and make them almost entirely compatible with each other, well... shit... that's almost frightening :P

So... PS3 works for anything, but for gaming? :)

power wise it's a better cpu than the 360, way better at least 30-40% faster. which is alot.

and games like uncharted 2, mgs4, and killzone 2 show that.

Yeah, that's been my prediction for the next console for awhile now. 2-3 CELLS and an updated GPU. They would still use the BD drive for media, only it would be much faster and the HDD would probably be replaced with a Solid state drive and all XDR memory.....probably 2 GB worth. This would be a beast of a console and not be a huge jump is cost due to manufacturing costs being so low. Oh and the Cells would all be 8-9 active SPUs.

I cant wait to see what they actually do.

Kind of like the 360 numbers for people who have bought more than one.

You had to see this one coming. lol

Very funny!

how is that different or even cheaper than building a multi chip computer? I'm confused there...

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

@Heph You don't hear too many stories about people slapping pc's together and getting something more than a lan party for counterstrike ^_^ Hardware wise, I'm guessing the cell chips just put out so much raw power for that kind of data analysis, and stringing them together I guess seems like what they were meant to do the whole time. The worlds second fastest Super computer uses cell tech, and from what I've heard it's super small, and super energy efficient (well as compared to the other super's out there). The cell shows real strength in numbers as the way the chip architecture would indicate.

I don't know the in's and outs, but cell chips seem designed for this kind of crap xD
