Forums - Sony - EU - Many unofficial price cuts or do we not know something?

I went to my local shopping centre today and have shocked to see that I can get a PS3 with 3 games for £300, just a month ago the console itself was £300. A website has the PS3 at £260 as well and at Neogaf there have been threads where in the EU the PS3 has been dropped in price for many stores.

So with that said, surely this is a sign an official price drop is coming very shortly. I just find it too coincidental that all these stores have cut the price of the console or maybe I am completely wrong and stores are simply cutting the price themselves.

So with that said, do you think an official price drop in coming in the EU? EU has always been a place where the Playstation brand has done well so I think Sony have been forced to cut thr price due to the 360 so they can get the upper hand again. Stealth price drop now and then when Killzone 2 releases an offical price drop is my thinking, I have learnt that whatever a company says is complete bullshit ala Reeves saying a price drop is not coming for a long long time.

Sony are countering all this price cut stuff with bundles, and sly bundles at that...or maybe not sly enough

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

The £ is doing terribly now as well, £1 = 1 Euro so that could be another reason.

I don't think the PS3 is doing so well in the UK, especialy after the 360 price drop.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

also here in Italy some shops are seeling the PS3 under 399€...but those are just local promotion (probably the PS3 isn't selling well and shops are simply trying to free the shelves)

Most shops in Poland sell it at around 1399 PLN which is around 350 euro but that's mostly becouse of strong euro.

If you look at amazon.uk prices, there has been quite a bit of price slashing on both 360 and PS3 games. I've seen some pretty great deals that so far Amazon US hasn't matched.

I noticed it too in Genoa, Italy http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=53368&page=2 , but they looked like unofficial cuts, and there was even a rise on a PS3+movie bundle.

Yeah even in Australia I have seen prices around $620. RRP is $699.

But if this was an official Sony would be yelling from the rooftops about it. But what have we heard about this from them......
