Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft cutting up to 10,000 jobs?

It's very simple to explain: Ballmer is greedy. He shows it at every opportunity, for example that time when with MS growing as usual he said US technicians and engineers are paid too much (I swear that given impunity I'd headshot everybody saying that engineers should be paid less, but strangely forgetting each time sales and marketing and administration people and other bureaucrats wages) and shortly after he cut some benefits to his employees.
Bill Gates was quite a thug against competitors and even more sloppy than Ballmer with customers regarding quality, but he didn't behave this way towards employees, instead he made them rich.

No, not at all, but MS makes dirrty business, and it's something I can't support.

i know with the dollar this weak they should be in heaven.

Hardly since America is their biggest market, a weakening dollar is more a stone tied to their neck. They buy their parts and produce their consoles in Taiwan, China etc. and get paid in dollar. Not exactly a winner. Game designers in the States are a plus though.

yes and no...

You have to remember that with a weak dollar, when someone in the U.S. buys a products from a Japanese company like Sony or Nintendo, they convert that dollar to the yen, and therefore their dollar is converted into more yen than it would be if it were strong.

Nintendo's draining attacks are super effective after all...

Do you mean dirty in a evil or sexual way?  Cause, if you're against the sexual stuff, then I say stop being a prude

I like the evil stuff too, but that's not nearly as interesting.

yea. but this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. i won't be surprised if every single company in the world lay off 5000-10000 workers, even though i of course wouldn't want to see that

TO THE GREETY MILLION DOLLAR CEO'S WHO MESS UP THIS ECONOMY. WHO TOOK THERE BONUSES AND DIDN'T ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBLILITY OR EVEN ATTEMPTED TO HELP OUT OR FIX THE MISTAKES HE/SHE MADE

This again shows how big this economic downturn is, but we shouldn't worry. MS...along with Sony will pull through

Why would you even put MS and sony in the league? Sony is in big trouble and is a very weak ,financially , company .

sony its not weak, as as whole they make profit, but the game division it's in red for a while.

If true, I bet we will not see a ton of "Microsoft is Doomed" threads, like we saw for Sony recently. It looks like every gaming company, except for possibly Nintendo, will be affected by the economic crisis. Hopefully things start looking up in 09.

Of course we won't since MS will have a great quarter unlike sony .
