Forums - Gaming - Best Original Soundtrack In A Game?

I think Advent Rising has the best soundtrack I've heard.  There are epic tunes, there are calming ones, Greater Lights is a great song, I really enjoy it a lot.  Check it out here. Any objections?

The Zelda and Mario games have always had great music. Recently, Braid has really caught my attention.

Well, I think all the Chrono games have excellent soundtracks (you should listen to Chrono Symphonic). Though, after listening to the whole Suikoden games soundtracks for a music game here at VGChartz, I have to say that Suikoden II has probably one of the best ever (if not the best)!

Advent Rising's... Hmmm, I have to listen to it, like, now! o_O

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Super Mario Galaxy has the best original soundtrack closely followed by Ocarina of Time and FF 6/7.

I would of put smash bros on it but it's not original, just a compilation.

Ocarina of Time or Chrono Trigger

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

I have a soft spot in my heart for the music of Total Annihilation, which was one of the first instances of orchestrated music in videogames. The completely over-the-top presentation was perfectly appropriate, considering how completely over-the-top the game was. To this day, I still keep the battle music in my playlist.

Super World Cup Fighter II: Championship 2010 Edition

I know this is a bit off topic, but the best song in a video game is the Still Alive from Portal.

On topic: I forgot to mention this in my other post. Kingdom Hearts. 'nuff said.

Smash Bros Brawl

Suikoden II and Final Fantasy Tactics for me, I've heard tons of good soundtracks, but those two are the only ones where I feel that every single theme is brillant.

Some songs from Suikoden II

Opening
Homesickness

The Confederation Forever
Beautiful Morning

Battlefield Without Light

From Final Fantasy Tactics

Zodiac Brave Theme

Battle on the Bridge
Apoplexy
Enemy Attack
Unavoidable Battle
