Forums - Gaming - Axl Rose unhappy with Guitar Hero

http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2008/12/17/axl-rose-unhappy-with-slash-guitar-hero-rants-long-and-hard

"[Slash] being Guitar Hero’s fine but not when Activision in using Jungle, having Yahoo use Sweet Child unauthorized, claims no involvement with Slash, his or anyone's image or VR or anyone or anyone's music in either camp in promotion or commercials etc," he wrote. "I wasn't broadsided. I read about it as it moved along but Activision continually denied it right up to the release. That’s some low life chicanery on all their parts."

Axl's main beef, if these words really did come from him, is that Slash used that as an excuse to appear solo under the name Guns N' Roses. That keeps the guitar player fresh in the minds of rock fans as the guitarist for that band; Rose argues that he's Guns n' Roses now, so for Slash to come back and continue to cash in on the song is wrong. Or something.

i don't remember what happened between Axl and Slash.  I know they hate each other though.

Around the Network

Funny how most posters on Arstechnica side against Axl, when they don't know all the details. Well, neither do I, but I choose not to side with (or against) anyone blindly.

So a guitarist from a band can't use anything involved in that band....On a guitar game?

C'mon, Axl is just being dumb like he has been for the past ~15+ years. Slash was what made GNR so sonically different - His guitar playing was the polar opposite of what 80's bands were at the time...And Axl's vocals were the status quo.

Slash is GNR...Not Axl. Especially from a Guitar Hero point of view.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The difference is that Axl is an asshole and Slash is cool.

that's kinda axl's point.  hes using this as leverage to gain a foothold on the brand recognition.
