Forums - Gaming Discussion - Was the Xenosaga anygood?

Awesome. I'm a huge fans of XGears, I still hang around the body and mind forums reading up on the game years later. Do you know were I might be able to find the fan translation? Is it good English?

There used to be a version on a site called Heaven Can Wait, but it went down half a decade ago... Sadly, I didn't save it to file before that happened, either. I haven't sought out the XG Perfect Works since, but a quick Google search for it should turn up something. Wish I could be more help...

EDIT: Amazingly enough, a translation of it is available on GameFAQs, of all sites. http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/199365/29716

Just so you know, fan translations of the XG Perfect Works aren't exactly Xenosaga-conforming, so certain names don't align (such as Michtam being called Miktam, etc.). Expect a few swapped L's and R's, as well as a few funny stylization choices.  Also, some of the terms changed (UMN and MAM are more or less the same thing), since it was the prototype storyline.

No. Xenosaga is a disgrace compared to xenogears. Don't bother.

Xenogears is still a better game, but Xenogears is possibly the best RPG ever made. It makes just about any other RPG look worse in comparison. Its unfair to compare it to any other RPG.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

its a good trilogy i enjoyed it, i think monolith soft is overrated, and Xenosaga 3 was and will be their best game ever.

Xenogears is freakin awesome, and playing this really makes me want to just dig up my Xenogears disc and play that instead. Not because I'm not enjoying this (only two hours in though) but because Xenogears just rocks. Along with Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, it's just one of the best RPGs out there. Amazing soundtrack, frikkin amazing soundtrack.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

That amazing soundtrack would be because it was Yasunori Mitsuda who composed it. He did the composing for Xenogears, as well as for most of Chrono Trigger and all of Chrono Cross and the first Xenosaga game. The man is extremely talented, there's no doubt about that.
