Forums - Microsoft Discussion - I finally bought Gears of War 2.

Cole's re-introduction has to be the single greatest moment in HD gaming history.

I'm partial to his threats over the intercom to the Locust Queen, but I agree that Cole really makes that game. I hope Gears 3 adds Cole and Baird as the 3rd and 4th playable characters for co-op.

@Monti-Alrighty. It's on.

Goddamn Piggy, I wanted to do Horde! Fine, you and Onyx do campaign. I'm going to go cry in that corner over there. I've already finished Campaign on Normal and almost on Hardcore and it's really not THAT great.

If you don't think co-op is fun, you haven't done it with the right group yet. Nothing screams hilarity like the 15th "sorry guys, gotta do it" sticky grenade in Halo while everyone blows up. Or fighting the same group of Flood 10 times because everyone is too damned dumb to realize that there's a spawn point just ahead.

Trust me, co-op is hilarious no matter what game if you get the "right" people around you - and by "right", I mean complete blithering idiots that talk loads of shit while they die constantly. If they're drunk, it's even better.

I'm game for both. We don't have to finish a co-op campaign, just go through a bit. Montana, if you want to join, I guarantee it will be enjoyable.

Hm.

Me and my brother have been playing on Normal, based on the assumption that it would be roughly equivalent to last game's "Hardcore". This, sadly, is not the case.

We are now in what you might call "The Belly of the Beast" but we are going to start over. Normal is only about as hard as the last game's Casual. Casual in this game must be easy indeed.

Since we just started that area - is that in act three? How can I tell how far we are? I guess I should check my achievements.

I hope we aren't at the halfway point or anything, this game is too awesome to be short.

Okay then. The plan, is everyone is up for it, goes like this:

Horde at 11:00 Eastern Standard:

Monti Cooper

Rocketpig76

Daddy Keil

Loko Moi MX

Some random dude? Maybe Munkeh111 if he's up for it...

I have no idea what Horde is or what it means, but I'm in.

By the definition of the word, it means I get to try to kill many things, fail, and laugh about it constantly.

If you expect effective gameplay, I'm not your man. You should have seen me in WoW... Talk about pissed off guildmates...

I'm here for the lulz, kids.

I stopped bothering with Normal modes a long time ago once I figured out that if you're familiar with dual analogs at all, a more difficult setting is needed.

Well it's jsut that Hardcore was Normal in the first game, so we figured that Epic went down the Team Ninja path and made Hardcore equivalent to Insane, and Insane something else entirely.

How far into the game am I?

If Belly of the Beast is when you get eaten by the worm, then I believe you'll be 40% finished when you get out of him.

Oh kick-ass. All right, yeah, we're starting over on Hardcore. It's too easy to Rambo that shit on Normal.
