Looks to me like they crumbled under the pressure of fans to not give the award to GTA IV and to Chobot's blog where she said it should be Fallout 3.

Because I don't know how a game be Action Game of the Year and win Best Graphics Technology, Best Voice Acting, and Best Story and not be Game of the Year. I still think GTA IV is going to win Best Overall Game of the Year from IGN which will be announced on the January 16th.

I don't get why Live got it's own section. I would have liked to see how they managed to fare against the retail games. Hopefully this will push Braid into the race for Overall Game of the Year. It deserves the nomination.

       IGN started a separate XBOX Live section shortly after E3 2008.

I know they did, but it just seems like a copout to give them their own Awards when the other two consoles are mixing. It probably stems from me loving the Arcade games so much and wanting them to have a fair shake against the big boys the same way World of Goo managed to edge out GOTY for Wii.
