I'm really surprised to not see Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on there. It must have done really poorly on downloads in favor of retail copies. That's a shame, because it's not going to show Sony that retail game downloads are a viable thing to invest time in.

So I guess you didn't see Warhawk sitting on the same list correct?

I saw 1-5, then went temporarily blind for a moment and regained my sight for 7-10. I must have missed it somewhere.

What exactly is your point though friend? Warhawk managed to make the list and that evens out that GT5 Prologue didn't? Both should have been in the Top 10. It's Gran Turismo. 10 million + selling series. Sony's gem. It not being on the list is telling with where consumers want to spend their money on games available through both avenues. Notice that Burnout Paradise didn't make the list either. There's also the possibility that Warhawk on the list is a combination of all downloads, including expansions.

It would be easier to tell what is up if we had numbers to go along with this list, but unfortunately it's not happening.

Maybe Warhawk was not much available on the store shelves.. and GT5:P is a lot easily available on the store shelves... which we can see by the sales data also... 2M+ discs sold.

The point is that your point is moot.  Retail game downloading did make an appearance in the top 10, unlike your insight that it's not viable to invest in.

And GT5: P is much more easily available in stores, as it just released, and Warhawk isn't since it's old.

Edit: Noobie stole my point

I would have loved Snakeball to have placed higher so that it's online comunity still existed. It was a blast while it lasted. :)

It would have been interesting to me if it came with actual numbers.

I never said it's not viable to invest in. I love the idea behind it. I said this may show Sony this isn't viable to invest in. Sure they may continue a few games here and there the next time they decide to make a $40 retail game, but they may not feel the need to expand if sales aren't delivering and third parties may not see any reason to jump in along side them. Why is it the Greatest Hits collection isn't up for download? That's a pretty attractive price, cheaper than the other first party offerings on the DL service, and yet they are nowhere to be found.

There just seem to be a lot of opportunities, obvious ones that Sony could take and choose not to. They aren't adding many retail games, they have let the PS1 section sink(not including Japan), and they haven't bothered to venture into PS2 games at all, even with backwards compatibility being a thing of the past for many PS3 owners. These all look like opportunities, but maybe it's a lack of sales that is forcing Sony's hand into a very lazy state in regards to getting downloadable product out.

Regarding Warhawk not being in the stores, I'm not sure where you shop but it seems to have healthy stock levels at Target and Gamestop, where I do my own game shopping. Target keeps it on the shelf with the bulk games like American Idol, Eye of Judgement and Time Crisis 4(when it's available).

QFT.

Of course Sony holds onto their precious sales data as if it were their essence of life.

@ Onyxmeth

You must have a bigger target then the ones in the area I live. My target discounts the games after being out for a few months. Pretty good deals too.

Mine does the same thing, but only to third party games. I've never seen them clearance out a first party title from any of the three big guys, not including handhelds. My Target barely has anything to sell for PSP anymore. It's basically just sports titles and racing games. Half the shelf space is empty. I think I recently saw Pure, Unreal Tournament III, NCAA Football and Ninja Gaiden II on clearance there.

I didn't see Warhawk on the bundle bin, i had just assumed since I never see it there. Wow. Those are some good games. I think other people have discovered the clearance games besides me because all I see are Patapon and the same 3 pc games that are ancient.

Yeah Warhawk should actually be either between two sections, where they would keep Guitar Heroes, DDR, etc. or it should be on the bottom where you would find the PS3s themselves.

I usually go to Target on Mondays or Tuesdays if that helps any. Maybe those are the days they take discounts.

SSFIIHD turbo remix sold 250k on PSN and Live and it didn't even chart here. Those games much have gotten some serious number of downloads.
