Forums - Sony Discussion - How does the PS3 internet browser works?

I have been wondering this for a while.

I know that you can use the internet on your PS3 and all that, but I would like some help with the specifics:

1) How good (or bad) is it?
2) How fast (or slow) is it?
3) How is the layout (like IE or Mozzilla or something different)?
4) Is it ok using a controller to navigate?
4) Can I check e-mail, watch videos, post on VGChartz (), etc. or are there limitations?

Thanks to anybody that can answer any of those questions.

you need a mouse and a keyboard otherwise lol at people using the sixaxis to type.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

Yeah. I assume it's going to be sloooooooooooooooooooow.

But, what about the rest?

its not that bad,i use it every once in a while. Its not hard to use,its slower than anything on a pc,but its fast enough.

I use it to post on VGC when I am not on my computer, you can watch any videos based on flash, It's not so slow, just I don't like using the remote to type, I need a keyboard.

1.) It's not that bad, but at the same time it's not good either.

2.) To give you a comparison, my parents' old pentium 4 at 1.4Ghz outperforms it. Granted, that's with a decent browser.

3.) It uses the Prestro rendering engine (used in Opera)

4.) I don't mind using the controller

5.) You can do all of those things. The biggest limitation is the ram.

Good news Everyone!

I've invented a device which makes you read this in your head, in my voice!

Thanks for the replies, everybody.

At first, in my opinion, the Wii Browser stomped all over the "would you like to run plug-in" PS3 browser. Lately though, after numerous updates, the PS3 browser is actually pretty capable. I wish there were a way to set the thing to where it would automatically say ,"Yes. I WANT TO RUN EVERY FUCKING PLUG-IN THERE IS!", but it no longer freezes and it's pretty good.
