Nanami is a great character. Maybe it's not the best ever (in a sense, Lyon, as a similar character, is better), that's why I didn't include her, but still, she's not an annoying little sister. Firstly, because he's older than Riou. And secondly, if the scene in Matilda didn't move you, well, what can I say...you're hopeless, bug

cornelio > nanami. nanami is a mediocrity.

A Suikoden thread?!
I'm surprised.

Well I like your list, I disagree with the order but the majority of the people you chose would be on my list aswell.

I'd take Lucia, Gizel and Snowe out of on mine though.

I'd put Flik in there.
You follow him as an upstart rebel member, watch his love life unfold, notice the little subtleties like the name of his weapon, see him grow to be a great mercenary leader and so on (my memory fails me on what he does after Suiko II.

Mathiu silverberg would have also been a good candidate.
"Mathiu is a master military strategist and Odessa's older brother. Once an idealistic man, Mathiu participated in the Succession War as a strategist for Kasim Hazil and then as a vice-strategist for Barbarossa Rugner under his uncle, Leon. When Leon devised a plan which required to slaughter of the town of Kalekka, Mathiu reluctantly carried out of the plan out of duty, but retired from his position soon afterward.

Over a decade later, Mathiu is approached by Viktor and the members of the Toran Liberation Army when their leader, Odessa, is assassinated. He agrees to become their chief tactician and strongly believes that preserving human lives should take priority over ending a war as quickly as possible. Mathiu is fatally wounded during a botched assault on Shasarazade and dies while hearing the Liberation Army's soldiers cheer in victory after having conquered Gregminster." wiki

Why no love for McDohl? ; ;

I knew her name was Pi something.

And, yes, that scene is amazing (though It doesn't happen if you have the 108 stars, right?)

The scene I mentioned though was very marking to me, because it was a whole scene based on waiting. And it is a scene that shows what makes or breaks JRPG. - character development. If you didn't care about Jowy or Nanami or whatever, that scene would've been boring.

But, since you care so much for them, it's a wonderful scee. I have a distinctive memory of being afraid that he wouldn't come back and a feeling of sadness too. This simple scene moved me very much.

Yeah, I love that scene too. It shows a low of the relationship of Riou, Nanami and Pilika with Jowy. It's also the turning point of the game, and when you realize that the things aren't going as "straightforward" as they should.

But for me the best scenes of Suikoden II are the true ending (when you have the 108 and Nanami doesn't die and you three go live together and the bad ending in Tinto where you leave all and run. I never imagined a bad ending could be so fantastic)

Well, I didn't put it (like the Prince and Riou) 'cause he's not really a character, him being mute doesn't leave to a lot of character development. Of course, it gives room to a lot of identification with him, and to make al what he goes through yours, but he's not a character in the same sense as Jowy, Shu, etc.

Of course, we could make a list of "best heroes", and it would be Riou>Frey>McDohl>Lazlo

I'd put Pahn from Suikoden 1 in there as well.
