There are a lot of questions around dreams still, but none of them have anything to do with what they mean. I can't say I am overly familiar with repeated dreams so I can't speak to that in a general sense. Specific ones could actually mean something admittedly, but those are generally related to severe trauma. There have been more than a few studies monitoring synaptic brain activity while sleeping so I will see if I can find something for you.
Lucid dreams are easily explained with the view of dreams as random firing of synapses though. The thought is the brain kind of forces a pattern onto the firing of the snyapses and that creates the dream. When you hit the lucid dream you are just taking active control of creating a scenario to encompass the brain actvivity. This would probably involve a lot of non-random brain activity, but would be the same as if the person was awake and just day dreaming.
