Quick question, is it possible to check the version of a game that is on steam?

For instance, I bought World of Goo on steam, and apparently there has been a v1.30 update a week or so ago, however I haven't noticed anything updating through steam, so is there a way I can check what version it is currently on so that I know to either manually download the update or leave it?

If you right click on the game icon in the game list, you could try selecting "update news"

I don't know if they would put any information there though. Do you know if the game has a version number when you're in it? Many games do that.
