"Welcome to World of the INSANE. 16-year-old Daniel Petric got more than a little bit angry when his dad took away his Halo 3 disc and tried to stop him playing the game he'd just sneaked out of the house to buy.

Daniel's response? He took his dad's 9mm handgun, told his parents to close their eyes because he had a "surprise" for them - then shot them both in the head. His mother died, his dad lived, and is now telling the American legal system about the shocking events in court.

Daniel's meagre excuse is that he'd been housebound for a year following a snowboarding accident and got a bit tetchy. Now, that might be a good excuse if the crime was gaining a few stone or watching too much TV or shouting a bit loudly a couple of times, but it's hardly a valid reason to go shooting your parents because they won't let you play Halo 3.

If any aliens are reading this and have access to powerful particle weapons or something similar to the planet-killing mass driver machines used to successfully obliterate the Narn Homeworld in Babylon 5, please put this planet out of its misery."

EDIT

WOW! Only in America would somebody shoot their parents in the head over a vide game!

Only in America?  Oh yes i'm sure your country is a beautiful candy covered gumdrop land.  Crime is nonexistent where you live, right?  Hey can you give me a ticket to paradise please?  It is obvious this kid is mentally ill, there is no country in this world that is devoid of crime.

Halo doesn't kill people. Guns kill people.

Seriously though, you're 5 times more likely to be shot by your own gun than actually use that gun for the intended purpose of "self-defense".

Tease.

WOW! Only in America eh!

This simultaneously unfairly characterizes an entire country and trivializes the tragedy and horror of what happened here.

Chill out its just a phrase, I only used ot because situations like this mostly happen in the U.S I think we can nearly call that fact.

That's right. How's it done in the UK? Oh yeah.... you guys kidnap your daugthers for 27 years, beat the shit out of them, rape them repeatedly, impregnate them 19 times, and everyone around them is too stupid to even know what's going on or open their mouth about it. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/britains-fritzl-the-missed-chances-1041459.html

Yeah that's right...only in fucking UK and other parts of Europe (Fritzl case) does shit like this happen.

So on behalf of all us Americans...go fuck yourself. <~~ it's just a phrase...it's worth the ban i'm likely to get

Obviously hit a sore spot, can you not read? thats awful what happened in the UK, but how is it anything to do with video games? HENCE why I said ONLY IN AMERICA maybe I should of added

"ONLY in America would somebody shoot their parents in the head over Halo 3" ... I didn't say only in America did awful awful things like that happen. Read the fucking post again.

Yeah I got a little passionate, may have jumped the gun. I've got family in military. I took you're post as literally.

Mean kids do mean things then try to pawn them off on other people to get out of them.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

I'm locking this thread. The news is depressing, and most of the posters are just cursing out the kid who did this or the other posters. I'm not going to punish anyone, let's just pretend this never happened.
