Forums - Microsoft - 360 Cores and Premiums with HDMI?

More importantly, there could finally be a way to identify if a system has the new 65nm CPU everyone is waiting for.

When I was at E3 I had a chance to get a look at the new Halo-edition 360 hardware, and I asked about the HDMI connection. "HDMI will probably be standard moving forward," I was told. I pushed for more information, but was rebuffed. Now, after the price drop announcement, a mole sent us some interesting information about Microsoft's upcoming hardware plans. If you're thinking of buying, you may want to hold off.

According to my source, Microsoft wants to cut through all their existing inventory of hardware. They will then quietly "soft launch" a new version of the Core and Premium hardware in late August or September that will include an HDMI port. It's also expected that this new hardware will feature the 65nm process for the CPU and quieter DVD drives. The new hardware will ship in boxes very similar to what we saw on store shelves now, but there will be a small "call out" on the box so you know you're getting a system with the HDMI connection.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

sweet.... so the falcon would be out before halo... that could change a lot on the sales then.... I'm waiting for LGC they'll probably gonna talk about it...

Ha HA to all those that are getting ripped by buying 360 already, (including me). F'ing MS. What a ripoff artist they is.

Let's see:

Cheaper
Better Quality
HDMI
Quieter

Wow, could you please use lube next time?

Well since I don't own one yet, that'd be good for me since i could tell which have the smaller chips. Wonder if they also include an HDMI cable at the plug for the Audio cables so you don't have spare video games lying around. Sucks for everyone else.

Great! I get the crappy old 360 cause I adopted early, wonderful.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

well HDMI is not really usefull depending on your setting... if you have a 5.1 and a monitor LCD... you better use the VGA+toss link or composite+toss link than HDMI... I don't know why people are all crazy about that connection.... I tried compared it I went back to my YuV toss link on all my hardware...
