Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who thinks FFXIV will come to wii?

@Rei: I'd put money on DQX breaking about three million in Japan lifetime, and selling better in the West than any other Dragon Quest.

@Stats87: I'll agree to disagree on everything else, but I still don't see what the gameplay difference is going to be, certainly not to the point where it couldn't have been done last-gen. Have we heard anything actually confirming this?

Can't really add anything that others haven't said..... but in my opinion it'll stay a HD exclusive... unless the Wii is completely dominating over the competition.... even more then it already is. :P

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

After how long it took FF13 to come out...

I'd guess FF14 would be on the Wii over the 360 or PS3.

Though i'd say the favorite is "Next generation console".

I don't think FF14 would have a chance to come out on HD consoles by the end of the generation unless they've already started on it.

1st. Final Fantasy series DO care about the graphics since SNES. FF7 may be hideous looking but it was at the time the best-looking JRPG, do you think FF7 would have huge better graphics if it was on the 64??? 64 would improve some things in the 3d engine but would screw up in other things like the textures and the FMVs, and they still would look like legos (FF8 was the 1st one to have life-size characters, that's Square's move, not Sony, not Ninty)... Square didn't decide to go alone on sales, Ninty alienated some companies with the cartridge problem, i would like to see how good FF8 would turn out in the 64 without the 4-CD storage...

BTW, overall the SNES was the most powerful console, so it's not a fact that the FF games go always with the least-powerful...

2nd. Hardware sales does not guarantee software sales, we'll se if FF13 sales are enough to justify them on the HD consoles, the call will be made when it goes out on every region, and remember, FF series is the SE's best-selling series worldwide...

Final Fantasy 1 looked better then Final Fantasy 7.

You really start making assumptions too fast, one week ago people were saying that SE wants Wii to die and will never develop anything important for it - now we are suddenly talking about SE moving all their main franchises to the platform.

Stop for a second and think about it. Think about it. Money is not the only thing that matters. A company like SE has to think about the future of their franchises - they cant just throw all of their main games to the Wii without thinking if that platform will give fans an experience they expect from the game.

FF is not Mario, it cant just turn around, completely change and still stay popular. There are things that make FF game an FF, and Wii does not provide a way to make a game up to the franchise's standards. Shinji Hashimoto, when asked why DQIX is on the DS and FFXIII is on PS3, said it himself.

Money talks and bullshit walks, my man.

I'm not saying it will happen, I suppose: I am saying it makes the best financial sense, and that Square will ultimately follow wherever they think the money is, especially given the difference in development cost.

We'll see how it goes.

It wouldnt surprise me if it does.

I suppose the next announced PS3 project from SE will stop these talks then.

Man you wish

And I wish

And everyone who's reasonable wishes

But no, unless it is actually FFXIV, it will not stop these talks.

Which if it is... that's bad news for PS3 since it's probably going to be a long time till it's announced.
