I'm looking to upgrade my TV to a bigger size. I wanted to throw some deals out there. Can you guys maybe recommend something?

Here are three TVs I've been looking at. I'm looking to spend $1000-$1500. I'm hoping for 50"+  but will go lower if rated better.

Now I have a question for you guys, anybody know how good gaming is on a DLP TV? Any help would be highly appriciated.

I have a samsung 1080p DLP which I've had for over two years and I love it. There are some disadvantages and advantages though:

Disadvantage: the viewing angles, particularly the up/down ones, are much worse than a direct display such as LCD. This is a disadvantage, for example, when playing Wii fit from too close to the TV.

Advantage: the contrast ratio and black levels are far better than LCD. LCDs often state "dynamic" contrast ratio, which is useless.

These are the two biggest deals for me, although there are a variety of other advantages and disadvantages. LCDs have a more pronounced screen door effect, DLPs have the silk-screen effect. My recommendation is to go to the store and actually view them as you would normally. Keep in mind that you should try to reproduce the viewing angles you'd use in your house, etc..

cables: be sure to buy them in advance from a place like monoprice.  Do not buy them from best buy or you will be complete ripped off.  Also, if you get a DLP they'll try to push the warranty on you and tell you your bulb will burn out.  The bulb will last you 2-3 years and costs less than $150 on the Internet.

Be sure to get component cables for Wii/PS2 and HDMI cables for anything you have that can connect VIA HDMI.  Buy them all from monoprice as that will be, by far, the cheapest place for you to get good quality cables.

I've always been a fan of the DLP, LcoS and other projection tvs. Sure the view angle sucks a bit but if you're watching it head on, its amazing.

But to make the decision, you have to view the picture on those TVs and decide which one you like the most. No one here can tell you which is better. I personally bought a Sony XBR KDS...something model from a friend over a year ago.

I got it for a good price and it was a great tv, but I didn't like the picture. So i sold it and got a 58 inch HP that was worth half the price which to me had a much much better picture even though it didn't do the elusive 1080p.

No one in their right mind would say a 1500 dollar HP is better than 4000 Sony TV. But to me the picture was...

Thanks, I have all the cables. I have a 32" LCD TV now. Looking for upgrade to bigger. You pointed out a few things that I was hoping "users" would point out such as viewing angles, etc.

I made my purchase to complete my home theater setup. Here stands my setup:

2 - Sony STR-DG720 - 7.1 Channel setup 105 WPC. 200 Watt Subwoofer.

5 - Sony Upconvert DVD Player (DVPNS700H/B)

6 - Playstation 2 (Component)

7 - XBOX (Component)

8 - Dell Optiplex - Older P4 Model serving as a Jukebox with all my MP3s.

So far I cannot complain the Bravia displays crystal clear picture. The 24p True Cinema is awesome I watched two movies so far and watching them in 24fps is awesome though it's reproduced since the TV runs at 60hz. The picture looks like it's going to jump out at you. Thumbs up for Sony!

The V series is a good choice... but I can't help but feel you could have got an equal value Samsung instead which may have been a bit better. the 630 series perhaps.

Samsung makes the screen for sony these days and their stabilizing 120 HZ tech leaps and bounds ahead of sony...or anyone for that matter.

Nevertheless, congrats...its a good feeling when you get a new TV.

I have a 57 inch 1080p dlp mitsubishi tv and its fantastic. I've been gaming on it for over 2 years and I have 0 complaints with it.

Hook it up with some surround sound and you'll be good to go.

Best buy had a 60 inch dlp on sale for 1100 this past weekend. Think you can get a 60+ for around 1500 now a day.

I was looking at 120hz TVs and Samsung TVs. My problem was that none of the stores in my area carry DLP TV's. I wasn't going to make a blind purchase especially on a TV. The Samsung TV's they had at my local Best Buy were just not spectaular looking when I looked at the specs or picture with my own eyes.

The DLPs were cheaper and they have great picture. My father has one I've seen his TV. They were my primary choise, I just couldn't find a place by me that sold them.

Yeah I hear ya. I had to look all over town for mine as I wanted to see it working. DLPs are hard to find but I really hope they dont stop making them as I genuenly like the picture more than LCDs twice the price. Plasmas however are awesome but man...$$$
