I'm not sure if those microtransactions won't be huge hit. Make something extremly cheap and people will be buying it becouse it looks cool and costs only 50 cents or 1$. It's like dude who chopped LCD into single pixels and started selling them for 1$ - he sold all of them :D And also it works for most MMO. |
You could be right, but how many people will really be blowing money on silly small things? If you have 1 million people spending $10 a month on micro-transactions and 5 million more spending $1 a month that's a nice amount of money ($15 million a month), but I think that's pushing it.

This might as well be a good opportunity for Sony to make some cash :)

^_^
I think this will help the PS3 produce some sweat sweat hardware sales they need.
i freakin hope so,,,sony needs a break and this might give it to them.
if it's a success,,then it will continue to PS4 i guess(with updated graphics and some enhancements probably ).
After messing around with the beta and looking around at the shops - it looks like they're going to be charging for each individual item of clothing/furniture that you want in it. If they're really planning on doing this, then the stuff better not cost more than $0.25, or something similar. If they decide to charge more for things, I'm just going to abandon the idea alltogether.
it will be pretty cheap,,,,trophies also means money in home.so you can play games and get money to do stuff in home.

If they don't give the basics for free, I can see the micro-transactions flopping hard. It changes the perception from "I can buy some nice upgrades in the cheap" to "what, they charge for everything? screw this, let's play some game instead".

NJ5 you make it more then apparent that you dont have a PS3, am I right in assuming this?
I don't, but I am interested in seeing the business model behind Home.
