rofl...fable???....fable??...not mgs4, gears 2, or littlebigplanet.....fable??...

and best shooter is left 4 dead???....old ass engine + no cool weapon wins best shooter....how is that possible??..shooters are usually about weapons....

that actually shows one of the problems.  fable 2 is a brand new game.  many of those who rated it had just played it.  maybe in a few months their feelings for the game will simmer down, but because it was so fresh they loved it.  whether justified or not, gta4 clearly seems to be hurt by the time lapse while fable 2 probably gained from it.

after seeing the show i thought from reading between the lines it was down to Fable 2 and Fallout 3. they even said something to the effect they was a lot of string pulling and old favors called on for votes.

so i think they gave Fallout 3 the RPG game of the year in turn for raised hands for fable 2 for the game of the year, other than that i don't see any other game that could have been in Fable 2 way that there would have been the need to pull some back door cuts for votes. if it was Gears 2 or LBP or another game in the way they wouldn't have been anything to offer for votes.

I think it's exactly how Dodece implied - Fable 2 is the jack of all trades and the master of none. You can't just simply view it as a RPG - It's offers innovation, action, adventure, appeals to a wide audience due to its' simplicity, the score is great, the graphics are good and you can share the experience with a friend = win. Absolutely no problem here.

Things like this can influence results but in this circumstance it's probably not the case.  You have 5 of the 8 GOTY nominees coming out all within similar timeframes...

Fable 2
Gears 2
Resistance 2
Fallout 3
Left 4 Dead

Semi-off topic but I'm kind of surprised Resistance 2 was nominated...figured LBP would have been there instead.

What a wonderful experience fable2 is !!! I am pleasantly surprised that it beat things like MGS4 and gears 2.
