you're less likely to buy a new DVD player when you already have like 10 DVD players. Its kind of like the SDTV vs. HDTV argument. HDTV sales are overtaking SDTV sales, only because most people already have 2-3 SDTVs and are likely to replace maybe the living room TV with the HDTV.
