I just skimmed the "LBP=littlebigflop" thread and one point mentioned in the columnist as sourced by the OP wrote that the demo hurted LBP's sales - many people were put-off by what they saw - or already played and figured what they saw from the demo was enough for them.
On the other hand, Mirror Edge's demo convinced a lot of people to buy, as did Left 4 Dead (kinda showing, IMO, that final-game quality is hardly a measure when it comes to demo-succes.)
What to me is interesting is the now ancient Battlefield 1942 demo. It was buggy as hell, and demanded a lot of your system back in 2000 but, the game became a huge hit. So technical quality's of a game don't really seem to matter either...
I was wondering now what you people think makes a good demo that makes people rush out and buy a game. What makes it compelling?
