OT: Oh man, I can't wait for this now! I am really glad I didn't sell my DS. Similar to Tales of Vesperia = similar to perfection.

 

No, I just refuse to do anything except hold my games to a higher standard

Me and my girlfriend are only an hour in, but being able to joke about the endless anime tropes is one of the most fulfilling parts of the experience so far

I hope the Wii Tales does moe to experiment with the storytelling and tries for some original characterization

Keywords have been bolded. I can't blame you for what you've said so far then, but you have seen NOTHING yet. And dissing the characters as "unoriginal" is proof of this.

similar to Vesperia was in reference to the new untitled Wii "Tales of" game, not the DS game Tales of Hearts.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Look, all I'm saying is that Tales fans said the same thing about Symphonia.

It didn't turn out true there, either.

I'm not saying the game won't get better, but man, the opening suggests that the "Blastia" are some kind of elemental animal gods who watch over humanity out of benevolence

When they're actually just basically McGuffins that are equivalent to exspheres

That was a disappointment

Again, I can't blame you. Symphonia was the only Tales game I never finished by choice. Vesperia showed how Tales games need to be from now on, and if you don't like Vesperia then you won't like Tales from now on. And uh, blastia definately aren't gods, or even alive at that...

The Wii Tales is similar to Vesperia, not Hearts. Though Hearts is made by Team Destiny and Symphonia members so it'll be awesome either way, since those are Namco's two best teams (though I'd say tri-Crescendo is on par with Destiny, at least for the Baten Kaitos games) :P

 

Well that certainly doesn't help my decision to keep my DS much longer. My Wii on the other hand was sure to stay with me since the Tales game for it was announced, that and my sister likes it. In any case, I'm interested to see what makes these two Tales similar.

The only thing that's been reported about the new Tales from what little was shown yesterday was that it has 3D graphics and some type of cel shading. This somehow got stretched through the internet into "similar to Vesperia."

Funny how that works.

Something with it never clicked with me. I loved the art style, loved the story, even liked the voice acting. But I never could get addicted to it like with other Tales.

Ok I got to the part where you fight Efreet to gain him as a Summon Spirit I believe. If memory holds then I've already gotten Shadow, Undine, Volt and maybe a few other spirits already.

W-wasn't Efreet like the first boss of the first mission at the very start of the game?
