Forums - Sony - No Price Cut for PS3 This Spring; Sony Ahead In Europe

darthdevidem01 said:

well he aint exactly gonna tell you guys in the biggest sales weeks of the year that they are going to cut PS3's price in spring!

exaclty. i remember when i brought a ps2 it was $300, no price cut confirmed. one month later, the price dropped if they didn't announce a price cut then, why would they now. no gaming industry would announce a price cut months in advance, it would not only kill their sales, but less money for them

besides as we all know blu ray players prices have dropped, many are around $200, just a few months ago the same ones were $300. if blu ray players prices have drop, it means its only a matter of time before we see a price cut on the ps3.

I really think that sometime during 2007, Sony's CEO called a meeting with SCE and told them they have to get profitable. Time to get real about being a business and not just a drain on Sony's finances.

They were really insisting on profitability in every recent investors' conference. Sony doesn't want to continue funding the PS3 extravaganza any more than strictly necessary, and I don't blame them especially in this economic climate. Shareholders could well demand that they stop the bleeding or vote the current direction out.
