Forums - Sony Discussion - IGN's preview of Killzone 2.

I do only agree with one and that is the AI problem. I saw in one preview that they do block at some certain parts. IMO that's the only thing that's a problem.

Other problems are just flat-out whining just to make the article a little bit longer to read. Other than that, I'm almost seeing this as a true AAA title.

Actually, the IGN preview (as opposed to the IGN AU preview linked here) praised the AI quite a bit.

That's what I can't stand about media sites lately. They take time to nitpick at a game but not others just for some reason or another. Where was this nitpicking with Halo 3? Where was this nitpicking with the Call of Duty games?

Are you kidding me? Halo3 and CoD5 were nitpicked to death.

People have a problem with this article because it doesn't confirm what they want to believe.

Everyone lies as Dr. House says and you just lied to yourself. Congradulations.

They were nitpicked AFTER they released, never before. That's the main difference.

Doesn't confirm what I want to believe? I am probably the harshest critic of stereotypical shooters such as this on this site. If anything this confirms what I think. My issue is with how media sites hypocritically praise the same things it nitpicks in other shooters.

The AI is not totally bad but the blocking can sometimes be an issue. It's sometimes frustrating that the AI gets in the way.

if every shooter was like cod 4 i would leave the shooter genre.

Don't get me wrong, it's alright, but online is way too chaotic, and singleplayer tend to get a little boring... it's good to have different games do different things.

I was told it plays a lot like COD4.

It's somewhat similar to CoD4, but much slower and meatier. It really plays like no other shooter currently on the market.

From Eurogamer (they say it much better than I could, lol):

The controls will take some getting used to. An emphasis on realistic recoil means that Killzone 2's weapons can initially feel unwieldy rather than simply weighty, and the slightly slippery aim, which seems too slow in the centre of the screen and too quick at the edges, is going to require acclimatisation for any hardcore COD players. But even though the game allows you generous options for tweaking sensitivities, assigning different button layouts, and effectively recreating any other game's mapping, the more we played, the less we wanted to substitute Guerrilla's control scheme for something more familiar. After an hour or so, Killzone's layout starts to make sense, its weak running and gunning options forcing you to find a space and make use of the iron sights, while the slightly slow turning and lengthy reload animations draw you into a game that plays out at a tenser, more measured pace than COD or Halo.

It's certainly different, and it takes some getting used to, but once you really get the hang of things, the game's brilliance shines forth.  It's addicting, I tell you.
