Sony can do what they want regarding supporting PS3 for 50 years if they wish, but the consumers will decide whether it is worth buying for that long.
If in 12 years Sony is still shipping 10k PS3s per month, all that will mean is that they are sitting around doing very little while competitors are already selling millions of 8th if not 9th gen consoles.
