Forums - Gaming - IGN Reviews: Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories for PS2

Closing Comments
Re: Chain of Memories is an impressive remake that improves the presentation of the original GBA version by leaps and bounds while simultaneously streamlining the battle system. Although this is a very different game than Kingdom Hearts I and II, it fills in extremely important gaps in the story and also offers the full Reverse/Rebirth mode from the original.

I strongly recommend this one, especially if you haven't yet played Chain of Memories and want more insight into Sora and Riku's time between the events of the first and second game. As long as you keep in mind that this is based on a GBA title and was originally just an extra feature in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+, you won't regret the purchase.

8.0 Presentation
Narrative in the Disney worlds is lacking, but all the actual Castle Oblivion stuff is top-notch. I'm in love with Organization XIII, what can I say?
8.0 Graphics
Environments are simpler in Re: Chain of Memories, but that's understandable when you consider the source material. Animation is still incredible and particle effects are slick.
8.0 Sound
Tunes are mainly just pieces you've heard from the original game, but the new voice acting bits sound great and help enhance the experience.
8.5 Gameplay
A complex yet equally rewarding battle system compliments a customizable dungeon crawling dynamic. Re: Chain of Memories is a very different game, but it's challenging and fun.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
The fact that you can play the entire game over again in Reverse/Rebirth mode and get a whole new story is still crazy awesome. One playthrough alone will easily take over 25-30 hours.

Impressive
OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

So for those that missed the GBA version and are KH fans, you should definitely pick this up considering it feels the gap between the original KH and KH2.

It's price tag is $30 bucks. You getting a really good port, that is beefed up for your money.

Around the Network

The cards ruined this game. Besides Org. XIII annoy me to no end...
