We have a laptop that is having issues, not turning on and shiz. But we have some stuff on the HDD that we need to get off of it. We have a desktop computer, and I know that you cannot hook up a laptop hard drive to a regular PC, but what I need to know is what kind of converter I need to make it work, and where can I get it?

If you can't turn on your laptop and you are certain that your hard drive still works, buy an enclosure that is compatible with your HDD:

I more sensible option would be to get an IDE to USB adaptor

Actually, I think it would be more sensible to get the enclosure, that way I can just use the HDD as an external USB HDD.

I didn't know that you wanted a more permanent external hard drive. I was under the impression you just wanted to get the files off of it while you were trying to fix the laptop.
