As the title states, yeah, it's a problem. I wanted to show LunaAutumn my new bunny I got for my birthday this past August (yeah, it's a bit late, but she has time now). Of course it would be easy to just see a picture of my rabbit, but she'd rather see me in real-time with my rabbit.
ANYWAYS, last month (October), my integrated HP WebCam had lost its driver and/or has mysteriously stopped working. I've looked everywhere online to try and restore my Webcam. It's bothersome, as I have used my built-in Webcam for online classes last year so the teachers can see if you are attending instead of your parents/friends being behind the screen instead of you.
I have already had HP's help twice on this matter and both times they said the easiest way to fix it is to send my laptop into them. I can't because I have school and the like, and my family has a crappy HP desktop (I think you users can see a trend here lol...) that was purchased with Windows ME, but it can barely handle Windows XP due to the hardware. I have complained to my parents and bitched at them for not listening to me about upgrading that desktop. As soon as they get a new desktop, I will then send my laptop in for repairs (which maybe soon).
I have tried to look for drivers, and HP even has an 'HP WebCam firmware update' and it doesn't work, as my Webcam is not detected at all on my system. I have read that on HP laptops/notebooks, that due to the cable of the webcam being lead up through the hinge and past the screen, the cable can become disconnected. That's what I fear. I mean, sure I can go get a new webcam, but I'd rather see if I could get it fixed without having to spend money on a new one.
Anyways, does anyone have any idea I could repair the webcam by finding its driver without sending my laptop into HP so that they can fix it? It would take 2 weeks for it to be fixed, and I can't deal with it because I would have to use the shitty desktop in my basement.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv9825nr. If someone or anyone could help looking up information online on how to fix an HP Pavilion webcam, I would be in your debt.
