I doubt Valve would make steam open source. A port to linux would make sense if it made running game servers easier. I doubt it will make many games get dedicated ports to linux though.

Yes, but the rumour is that the Source engine is also to be ported.

Its good news... but we'll see how many games bother to support Linux. Steam on its own is useless.

Pity Steam isn't in my good books at the moment :P
