Forums - Microsoft - Warranty blows (MS screwed us over)

Well when someone creates a topic like: "Warranty blows (MS screwed us over)" and then has a large rant what do you expect? I thought mrstickball handled it pretty well considering. I mean if someone were to rant about something on the Playstation 3 or Wii that was false I'm sure they'd get back responses that were far harder on them than mrstickball's response.

ps. And I notice as well that the people making a big deal out of this either own a Playstation 3 or Wii.

Why would mrstickball feel the need to "defend the honor" of Microsoft?  Unless he is an employee of the company or Bill Gates' relative.

Well today I bought an X-Box 360 Elite. I finally found one after months of searching, Microsoft intentionally made them hard to find. I have always been a Nintendo fan and even now Nintendo Wii is my priority and main console even after getting my 360. However with all the crap third parties have been giving us Wii owners I had little choice but to buy a 360 and enjoy the third parties good games.

Wii getting crappy 3rd party support?????? Blasphemy. Hang him I say... cue the Wii folks coming in to say that they love Carnival Games and Gingerbread Man

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Mrstickball was not "defending the honor" of Microsoft, he was defending the truth.  Joe started the post with a flawed premis, that the 360 only had a 30 day warrenty.  Mrstickball not only had the right to correct this mistake, but he was right to do it so that Joe could get the correct information.

Who are you Quoting?? and since when do corporations have honour?? (Honour <- Canadian Spelling not a typo, same with colour)??

Go back to playing your PS2 games on your $600 machine.

Also, anyone else laughed when they realized that the console hasn't died, and this is just about an outdated piece of paper.

I would think having HEARD about the 3 year warranty, you'd at least take the steps necessary to ensure that you were correct before believing the 3 month warranty piece of paper before going off and bitching about it. You would have had an answer after taking 10 seconds of your time to search google as opposed to 10 minutes of your time to type an unfounded rant.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

@ JHawkNH )

Show me the person ,who immidiatly trusts some websites and some forums more than official papers that came with his box. I will be sure to fleece him well.

1. The warranty has been extended to 3 years.
2. If you knew that the 360 has had so many problems because of your friends, why did you seem to think that you didn't need a warranty?
3. MS didn't make so few Elites to make them hard to find, they made so few because they didn't want a huge stockpile of them.
4. If money is tight, why did you bother buying an Elite?
5. Having a screen name with [insert your name here]cool[random number] leaves you open for infinite mockery.

Next time before making your rant that only proves you're really more simple than cool, try doing a little bit of research.

Why would MS still send out a 3 month warranty in writing in the box? This makes absolutely no sense. The 360 was just shipped and the 1 year warranty thing has been in effect for a good deal of time. Print it out and stick it on or in the box before you ship it out of the warehouse. The 3 year rrod warranty is recent, so I will give them a pass on that. It's just bad business practice to be lazy about such things.

Yes, but he did it by implying that Joe was a idiot and chastized him for posting without doing his "research".  As someone else has stated, what would you believe, a forum poster, or the warranty documents that came with the equipment.

I didn't see anything wrong with the original post.  To assume someone knows the up to date warranty information is unfair.  He could have simply corrected him without statements like:   "and should really think before you post something like this." and "Try looking up the official information on www.xbox.com before you start posting " as if he's offended.

I'm sorry I did check the website later on, as someone already pointed out why is it that Microsoft includes the old warranty agreement in the packages of the new 360 Elites? Not everyone is going to run online to double check their warranty when the one in the box says only three months.

Its just stupid considering the Elites are the latest model of the X-Box 360 theirs so few of them even in circulation you'd think Microsoft would have kept them up to date. I don't know when that new warranty info came into affect but from the sounds of this discussion it was months ago. Which returns me to the question "Why the heck didn't they update their paper warranty?"

Honestly its not my fault Microsoft released two seperate warranty information sources. The in-box warranty says 3-months and the online one says a year. Who's to know that Microsoft includes faulty info in their in-box warranties?

Well I'm guessing Microsoft will e-mail me back soon with their official reply, hopefully they will fix this mistake and provide an up to date warranty from now on!
