Forums - Sony - Square Enix really stabbed Sony in the back

They like money

Around the Network

no shit

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Consoles owned: Game Cube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3.

My prediction: NATAL WILL NOT help 360 sales. Maybe a 50-100k boost week 1, then a 30-70 k boost week 2, and back to the norm again after 3-5 weeks.

In reading this OP, you'd Square Enix is in the business for charity, rather than to make money for it's shareholders.

S-E has never been known for their loyalty. Years ago they stabbed Nintento in the back and jumped ship to Sony. Now they've jumped ship again to MS. Bottom line is, they go to where the money is.

Final fantasy was once Nintendo exclusive, so did square stab Nintendo in the back? No, they went where the money was, So for me they have in no way stabbed sony in the back, sonys complacency has led to them stabbing themselves in the back.

We have heard that one before, they are the stabbers of gaming history. But what can you do when you need profit to stay afloat?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Why should they have loyalty to Sony as said previously the last gen worked out well for both parties as Sony had the dominant marketshare, this gen Sony is sitting at 1/5th of overall marketshare. If you were running a software development company and were third party what incentives are there to be exclusive to the PS3? It costs the most to develop for, we hear time and time again it's hard to develop for, and the potential for returns is the lowest of all competiting consoles.

Square Enix goes where the money goes, like most companies do.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

It's just sound business sense. You really think S-E entered this gen with a plan to bury the PS3? No, it's simply that this generation panned out differently to how it was expected and S-E has made changes to the distribution of its key software to ensure it gives itself a better chance of making money. That's what this business is all about after all. Also you'll find that S-E said it expects the 360's presence in the Japanese market to increase into the future, it never said it wants the 360 to overtake the PS3. S-E has no obligation to anyone to keep producing games for a particular company's machines, its aim is to make as much money for itself and its shareholders as possible.

If you want to genuinely question S-E's direction, you'd be best served asking why it is offering next to no support for the Wii given it is the clear market leader with low development costs.

First of all
FF is a Nintendo franchise, it's just temporarily misplaced :P I expect this may be fixed with FFXIV

Second
SE had duties to its shareholders to make as much money as it wants. It has no obligations to any of the 3 console makers.
