um...I have a Blu Ray drive in my PS3 so I don't even bother with getting movies online. The quality of Blu Ray movies is retarded.

| ChronotriggerJM said: @Grham That goes back to another topic on a different day, but long story short, you shouldn't have to pay for the ability to play with friends >_>;;; That's all a gold subscription lets you do... If your one of the MANY people that's simply not willing to pay to play online, then you can't access this feature. Seriously? For a while, the new cheap versions of the 360 were tempting me :P But not because of ANY multi-player aspects, I've got my PS3 for that which has free online gaming. No. I wanted it for the JRPG's that it's been getting, you know, the games I'd probably play by myself >_> Then BAM, MS lands Netflix. Holy shit :) icing on the cake if you ask me ^^ Then Microsoft put on it's blue swede shoe, and shoved it up my ass >_> |
Well when you put in that fashion I understand what you're saying, but it seems your main issue is with Live itself. Also yes it's a cuthroat move especially to us relaxed Californians =) but Chrono, this isn't even as cutthroat compared to what a lot of other companies do.
To me it's just smart marketing, I don't think Microsoft expects to move consoles with Netflix, only try to get some Silver accounts gold. Cutthroat to me is in my "Boycott Blizzard" thread because I was upset they closed 350,000 accounts in D2 and Starcraft 5 days before Wrath of the Lich King would release. At least with the LIVE/Netflix you can choose to have either one or neither or both and Microsoft won't ban you if you choose neither.
Xbox LIVE costed Microsoft a lot of money to produce, anything that's worth having has a price. The price of live is also really cheap 40 dollars for a year amounts to less than 4 dollars a month.
You sound like a little kid who didnt get his way and starts talking bad about something just cause he didnt get it.
Heh, these posts seem redundant:
"I don't want to have to pay."
"I don't mind paying."
"But you shouldn't have to pay."
"Then don't pay."
"But it would be nice if I didn't have to pay."
"Well you have to pay."
"But I want it without paying."
etc, etc

Yes. This.
Yeah, some people just think things they want should be free. They just don't understand some things in life do cost money.
If you want the convenience of just watching Netflix streaming on your TV, you're going to have to pay both sides. If you don't like it, then NXE + Netflix obviously isn't that important to you.
To me, $12 a month (Netflix + Gold Live) is more than worth it.
I like netflix because i dont have to take the timke to download them.If it aint on netflix i will download it and watch something else while the movie i want downloads. Its a great thing being able to watch whatever i want instantly.

Your Joking Right?
So 30 dollar bluray movies is better than 8 dollars a month and a huge library available to you taking up none your space and none of your hdd space?
Sure blurays look great but hd netflix great as well.Tell me anythime you thought the quality of a hd tv broadcast was awfull enough to be stubborn about it.
I got bluray and its all eye candy if i can see the movie and hear it clear enough to enjoy it why pay 30 per movie.
Anyone with an HDTV should have VGA or HDMI inputs so you can connect your computer directly to your TV anyway. All Microsoft is doing is extending it from PC to 360, which you can do with PS3 for cheaper than a Gold account.
Either way, it's not a big deal no matter which system you have.
