What really sucks is that sega finaly put something special on the market that made sense. The dreamcast was a masterpiece and they were just getting started.\

I really feel that if sega stuck around and the dreamcast did better they would have really gone the extra mile on there next console.

I loved the Dreamcast.  My brother and I used to play Power Stone on that thing for hours and hours.

Given the cyclical nature of the console market, it's virtually impossible for a company to sustain a monopoly.

i agree, the online fees is MS way of ripping us off. MS makes millions advertising on the dashboard, everywhere you go on the dashboard there is a advertisement, both related and unrealated to games. while both the wii and ps3 don't have these, and both online services are free of charge. so why does MS charge for online play and video chat if they make more than enough money advertising.

this is one of the reason i consider not renewing my gold suscription in march and i just stick to playing the wii and ps3, fuk M$, always looking for a way to get in our pockets

I agrew with this.  $99 for a wireless adapter, when you can get an arcade Xbox 360 for $200.  There is definitely something wrong with that picture.  If MS can monopolize, which will be difficult for them, I can really see them raising accessory and online charges higher.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I used to hate Sony for how they boxed Nintendo out of third party licenses etc. back in the day but now I support them whole heatedly against Microsoft. Why? Because of the online fees and shoddy hardware mainly. A lot of people laugh at Sony like "haha look how much money Sony has lost" but a lot of that money has been lost giving the best, most powerful, well built and advanced product to the consumer. If Microsoft takes Sony out of the Console game there is a very good chance then they could take Nintendo out next gen. Yes I am opposed to paying Microsoft for online gaming $50 a year or $250 per generation and they could charge even more if they knock Sony out. And I am opposed to the lower quality hardware, I don't think they should be rewarded for making that kind of product. Gamers should support PS3 to support free online gaming and communities that are accessible to all not another charge. With that being said I do think the 360 is a great System as well as the Wii and PS3 I don't want any of the companies to die.

I recently had RROD, but I am not a bit upset about it.  You want to know why?  They have a 3 year warranty for this problem so it makes up for any of hardware deffeciency.  Sure it was a bit of a hassle for 1.5-2 weeks but it wasn't that big of a deal.  So your lower quality argument is pretty much nixed.   For the price, there is no better gaming system on the planet. (IMO)

I honestly don't know why people (fanboys mostly) still try and attack M$ for this RROD issue.

Well my friends 360 just broke for the second time. First time was for RROD but the second time it was the DVD drive. Microsoft told em hed have to pay $100 bucks for the fix. 3 yr warranty only covers RROD. He's getting a PS3 now.

DVD drives fail, mine has already gone in my Wii from Xmas in the launch year
I don't play it that much either

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

$100 for a wireless adapter if you're a moron.  Either buy it used or don't use M$ brand.  The ps3 doesn't come with component cables.  Bigger issue imo.  But still, kinda the same thing.  Costs $30-50 on top of the console.  If you're a moron.  Again, buy used.  Or better yet, buy an hdmi cable onilne for $5.

As for the advertisements... are you Fn kidding?  Oh noes.  4 inches of unused space is advertising M$ games on a microsoft console.  I like those advertisements.  Especially for live arcade.  I forget about games all the time, but then those ads remind me.  The new penny arcade game is a great example.  I still probably wouldn't have realized it was out if it wasn't for those ads.  In short.  Boohoo ya baby.

Very true.  My cousin has had his PS3 disc drive fail twice and my friend's has failed once, so no disc driveon any console or system is perfect.

Do you want to see MS have the same kind of monopoly over the gaming industry that they do with Windows and Office applications?

With Windows and Office, we as consumers and small businesses have to pay a huge premium over market price because it's really the only viable option.

Sometimes is good to remember how Sony is doing this with the game industry, and thanks to the competition, probably it won´t happen again for another gen at least...
