Does anyone have the actual figures of where both Sony and MS are currently for losses in their gaming/entertainment divisions?

Interesting to see how SCE had only had one year of losses before the PS3, and those losses were 5 times smaller than those of 2007.

In any case, tables like that are just interesting, not terribly useful. Investors don't care much about the past. Can you imagine Sony's CEO at an investors meeting saying "but... it made so much money in the past!".

So Sony is 1 1/2 ish bln in the black, while MS is 6 billion-ish in the red. >_>

Sony is fine.

Don't go Crazzyman on us.

Too Late!

Nah, j/k.

SRSLY, I really am worried about Sony's future though.  Is there any way that things can turn around for them in the near future, or do they have to wait until the end of the financial crisis?

Sony is fine.

So I should have made a thread about Microsoft instead?

Whew, I was getting worried there!

I think Sony can turn it around, but they need better leadership. I have no faith in the current management. They need an ass kicker like Steve Jobs to clean house. Remember how Apple was before Steve returned? Sony right now seems like the old Apple that was dying.

so the thing about profits...the company doesn't just throw it in the bank and have it for later.  the profits get taxed and distributed to shareholders in the form of dividends.  past performance doesn't matter much, current and future performance does.

edit: okay, i was too slow.  disregard the above.

Nothing funnier then a bunch of kids thinking they are financial analysts, stop making fools of you're self's and stick to discussing games.

Yeah exactly it's all relative MS makes up for those losses in 1 and a half quarters...still I didn't know it was that bad.

So Sony's game division turned a profit last quarter? Am I reading that right? It can't be all that bad for them then.
