I thought it was pretty good. The lack of gadgets was annoying but it's probably the best Bond movie in the past 20 years behind Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

The opera scene was amazing and was 100% classic Bond. The pacing, the music, the choreography, his "controlled recklessness", I thought it was great. There were parts i didn't really care for but overall, I enjoyed the movie. I like the new direction they're going with the series, making it linear and with recurring characters. Craig's Bond is also the deepest Bond we've ever seen and I think it's a great turn for the franchise. He's actually becoming a real character instead of an over-the-top parody. Not that I don't enjoy the earlier films, I love them, I just think this is an appropriate move for the times.

I don't understand the hate.

I might be one of the few to say this, but while I liked the movie, I found the action scenes to be the biggest detraction. I thought the same about Casino Royal bomb maker chase scene too.

I disagree about the intro chase scene in Casino Royale - there needs to be some action and establish Bond as a badass - but other than that, I agree 100%. The action is sometimes detracting from these films.

For the first time in a long time, Bond is actually becoming an intriguing character beyond his womanizing, drinking, and one-liners. I, for one, appreciate the move. We haven't seen an emotional Bond since early in the series.
