Holy SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

100k over PS3.

RIP PS3.

Sorry Sony fans, I will gloat no more. But that has all but nailed the lid on the coffin for 3rd place. Next week may even be as high as 140-150,000 lead over PS3. TLR comes out in Japan.

Sure it'll take 3rd place. However, R.I.P. ps3 is taking it too far. Sorry to inform you but the black box will be around.

I didnt mean it literally. :) I just took the oppurtunity to say it. I remember all the times for the last 2 years when The silly fanboys (not you) could not fathom PS3 not outselling the 360. But well read my sig.

Fair enough. If the 360 can keep the 100k lead week after week then the 6.5mil is  completely guaranteed.

Yeah I agree. I think next week could be around 150,000 gap. TLR is released so Japan will certainly go up. And the 360 will only climb up in Others and America to week on week up to christmas. whereas it looks as though the PS3 will struggle in Others and Americas to climb as fast as the 360.

Remember the thread I made about the economic crisis this christmas and how it would affect PS3 in Others and Americas? I believe before Christmas is here the 360 may get close to a 200,000 gap on 1 or 2 weeks. If it's higher then I worry for future 3rd party releases on PS3's console. M$ would have no problem getting exclusives. Whereas Sony would really struggle. Also MGS4 port would look more like not being fantasy with a gap of nearly 7 mill. Even FF13 versus in every region but Japan on 360 wouldnt be out of reach if M$ keep killing Sony like this.

FFvXIII is coming to 360. Expect the announcement around E3 2009. As for mgs4, I think it's still unlikely because I strongly belive sony moneyhatted that game, and bundled it, and advertised it and released exclusive ps3 versions to boot. Komani would have to send a big refund check.

As for 3rd parties, the gap between ps3 and 360 is still not enough to justify exclusives especially with the high dev costs of today, M$ would just have to pay less or persuade not as aggressively. At worst, the ps3 will keep getting inferior ports and lack DLC but that would also mean sony's 1st party would always get priority in consumer's hearts---a give-take relationship lol.

Well, its not over yet, but atm PS3 is getting thrashed and badly. Price cut would help sales, but it could be really bad financially.

Wow.

It is a dire situation for the triple.

Drop the price dammit.

Sure. Just find a way to give Sony some of that extra $100 they'll be losing per console.

The earliest Sony could cut the price so massively would be mid to late next year, if they're lucky.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I agree with stickball on this one, serves Sony right, it´s their turn to pay.

Currently, they've paid 3.5 billion dollars to come in 3rd place this generation.

It's very simple: Major companies have made horrible blunders with their consoles. Sony has done the exact same thing, and up until now, everything retarded they've done hasn't turned out as bad as it should have.

Until now. They're getting stomped in seemingly every market now. If things persist, and Sony can't re-capture any momentum, they will have to settle for a healthy 3rd place, but come at such a severe cost - they may take years to recover from.

MS wasn't in the position to cut prices twice in EU this year, but it worked for them.  They sold a gaggle more of software and even made a profit next quarter.  Sony needs to drop prices this quarter, since everyone makes money thie Christmas quarter, and hope that the sustained software sales helps them meet fiscal profit goals for the beginning of next year, or there might not be a beginning of next year. >_>

It's not about being in the position to do something, it's about whether they want to and hope to sell more software or not.

So how much profit did Sony make with PS1 and PS2 combined? And does the 3.5Bill loss put them nearly back to square 1 where they started in the 90's?

Does MS lose money on the 360? If so, how much?

How much does Sony lose on the Ps3?

I'm asking because I don't know. I have a feeling MS is in a better position for more cuts.

You didn't think losing their customers, 3rd party exclusives, brand name recognition, the PS head honcho and $3.5 bln was bad enough? Wow, what's the world turning to? lol.

Mind you, they've already settled for 3rd place. You won't hear it from PR though because they'll only bring you good news. The new race is the race for profitability especially with the global economy threatning the entire fabric of the company.
