 But he's still a good example. If you see a movie that is critically slammed but very popular, its not uncommon for Ebert to have given it a better review than his peers. More so than most other reviewers Ebert tends to judge movies by what is reasonable to expect of it; for example, he rates action movies based on action, not the lack of Shakespearian dialogue.
