This possibility kept the asteroid at Level 1 on the Torino impact hazard scale until August 2006. It broke the record for the highest level on the Torino Scale, being, for only a short time, a level 2, before it was lowered.^[5]

If it does end it will just be a coincidence. Nothing is predicted to happen. As other people have pointed out mayans predicted end of an era not the world and 2012 isn't even the correct date anyway.
