Forums - Sony - Mini PSN prob: IP keeps changing

Every few hours, my internet IP changes. Everytime it does, I need to reconnect the ethernet cable back into my PC and turn it on, then put the new IP info on my PS3. It's a bit of a hassle sometimes, but only happens every few hours. The time seems to change. Sometimes it lasts for 2, and the longest I've had it last was about 5 hours. A few mins ago, I just noticed that when I do cmd -> ipconfig /all to get my IP info, it actually shows the time I got the new IP, and the time that it'll change again.

I haven't really bothered to fix it since it's not a huge prob, but I might as well try. The worst thing is not being able download demos while I sleep since it'll disconnect evntually.

Any solution to this?

Around the Network

How long has this gone on for?
What is handing out your IP addresses on your network?
Is there more than one device giving out DHCP on your network?
sounds very strange to me.

It seems like you PC is getting DHCP from somewhere, have you checked your router settings?

If you PS3 is wired to the same source have you tried putting it on autodetect settings?

I think it's been going on since I got my internet with Verizon.

I'm not sure what the DHCP thing is. I have DSL and I connect my PS3 directly to a modem. I actually haven't tried using another IP yet. I did try manually putting in the IP on my pc but that didn't really work.
